Report from Assistant Principal Years Yr 7/8

Alice Paget

Dear Westall SC community,

As we reach the midpoint of Term 4, I am excited to highlight the success of our Grade 5 Taster Days, held on Wednesdays, over the last 3 weeks. These special events have provided our local Primary Schools with a unique opportunity to experience firsthand what sets Westall Secondary College apart from other Colleges in the area.

Through a series of engaging activities and workshops, the Grade 5 students have had a taste of what it is like to be a Secondary School student at Westall, including engaging in our iCreate program.

I would like to thank the dedicated staff and enthusiastic students for their invaluable contributions to these Taster Days. By providing these experiences, we aim to showcase what our school has to offer and build a seamless transition for our future Year 7 students, ensuring they feel confident and excited to join our school community.

Upcoming events in Term 4:

  • Year 7 Welcome Night (Year 7s of 2026): We are looking forward to welcoming all new Year 7 students, parents and guardians to our Welcome Night on Tuesday 18th November 2025, from 6.00pm-7.00pm. During this event we will provide students, parents and guardians with information to ease their child or young person’s journey into Secondary School. Please pencil this date into your calendar if you have a child commencing Year 7 in 2026.

  • Future Year 7 Orientation Day will take place on the 9th December. This is a state-wide day, where all Grade 6 students will spend the day at their future Secondary College. The day will commence at 8.45am and conclude at 3.00pm (students are to wear their Primary school uniform and bring their lunch).

  • Headstart:

As we come to the end of Term 4, we direct our focus to our 2026 timetable. Our Headstart Program provides students with an opportunity to commence their 2026 program early, giving students a taste of the skills and knowledge they will be building in each of their subjects the following year.

During the last week of school, we will hold 3 days of end of year activities. Details regarding this week will be confirmed shortly on Compass.
