From the Deputy Principal

Mr James Millane

Welcome back

Welcome to Term 4!  It’s hard to believe we’ve reached the final stretch of the school year. This Term is always a busy and exciting one as we celebrate our students’ growth, hard work and achievements.

There’s so much to look forward to from End-of-Year events and celebrations to continued learning and reflection on the Year that’s been. Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to make Term 4 a positive and memorable finish for every student.

1:1 Chromebook Program – 2026

Thank you to the Year 2 parents who joined us for our 1:1 Chromebook Information Evening. It was wonderful to share our vision for how technology can continue to enhance learning across our school.

We look forward to welcoming the incoming Year 3 students to the 1:1 Chromebook program, a key step in building confident, creative and connected learners.

Our Chromebook program gives students the opportunity to explore, collaborate and problem-solve in ways that prepare them for the world ahead. It also supports teachers to design rich, engaging lessons that blend technology seamlessly with our strong foundation in quality teaching and learning.

For parents who were unable to attend please find the slide deck attached below - or alternatively please get in touch directly.

Upcoming: Puberty Family Education with Cath McCallig

Please continue to diarise Thursday 23rd October (7pm) for our families in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6  for an online presentation facilitated by Cath McCallig aimed at giving families opportunity to talk about and understand puberty. More information will be sent home via Seesaw.

Italian Day 2025

Next Monday, St Mary’s will celebrate Italian Day, a highlight of our cultural calendar and a wonderful opportunity for students to deepen their appreciation of Italian language and culture. A huge thank you to Senora Vozzo who has worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the day.

Throughout the day, students will take part in a range of engaging activities including a Soccer ClinicMosaic Art and Bravissimo Builders sessions each designed to showcase different aspects of Italian creativity, sport and tradition.

Students are encouraged to come dressed in Italian-themed costumes or to wear green, white and red to show their enthusiasm and support for the day.

The day will commence with an open assembly from 9am-10am which will feature our students showcasing the Italian language and culture we warmly invite families to attend in the flexi-space.

Please bear in mind that the pizza and gelato which has been ordered by many families, is intended as a cultural treat and should be supplemented with other food from home throughout the day.

We look forward to a vibrant celebration of learning and culture as our school community comes together to say — Bravissimo!

Term 4 Learning Overviews

Each classroom teacher has prepared a Term 4 Learning Overview, outlining the key learning areas, focus topics and special events for the Term ahead. These overviews provide families with a clear picture of what students will be exploring across all curriculum areas. They will be sent out tomorrow and I encourage parents to take some time to read through them and discuss the learning focus with your child.

School Disco – Thursday 17th October

Get ready to dance the night away! Our School Disco is happening next Thursday and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic night for our students to celebrate, connect and have some fun together. With great music, lights, and plenty of energy, it’s always one of the most anticipated events of the year. The disco is a wonderful way for students to unwind, share some laughs with friends and celebrate Term 4 on a high note. A big thank you to our Parents and Friends Association for their hard work in organising this event and creating such a fun experience for our school community.
