PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

The Moorabbin Primary School Community touch the land and think of the Bunurong People and surrounding Clans of the Kulin Nation who cared for the land before us.
We share our gratitude to their Elders past, present and emerging.
As we touch this land, we promise to treasure it, taking care of all its people,
animals, plants and waterways.
We at Moorabbin Primary School appreciate this land.
Dear Families and Carers of Moorabbin Primary School,
ASSEMBLIES THURSDAY’S 3.00-3.30PM - ALL PARENTS’ WELCOME
It has been wonderful to see so many parents and carers joining us for the last 2 assemblies. Your presence adds to the sense of community and shows great support for our students’ achievements. We kindly remind parents to avoid collecting children before it concludes, as early departures can be disruptive to the presentations and performers. We also ask that mobile phones be switched off or set to silent during the assembly to ensure everyone can enjoy the performances without distraction.
Thank you for helping us maintain a respectful and engaging atmosphere for all students and staff.
Our assembly has a new segment that showcases weekly activities around the school and yesterday our Year 5-6 team put on a presentation showcasing these terms 5-6 camp to Waratah Bay with background music from K-pop idols. We loved watching the presentation and listening to the children sing along to K-pop music, the atmosphere was similar to being at a mini concert!

WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY AUSTRALIA – FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER
World Teachers’ Day is held internationally on October 5th. As it usually falls during the school holidays in many parts of Australia, this year, in Victoria, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 31st October 2025. It is a chance to recognise and celebrate the teachers who are making, or have made, an impact in our lives. Whether you're a current student, have children in school, or have been out of school for many years, World Teachers’ Day is a chance to say, ‘thank you’.
Mr Corrigan and I would like to thank our dedicated staff at MPS for the significant contribution they make towards ensuring our students experience a stimulating and challenging learning environment. Our staff at MPS work tirelessly to prepare curriculum resources for students and to engage with students and parents to provide valuable learning opportunities and support student wellbeing.
We will be holding a special morning tea for our staff on Wednesday 29th October, when most of our staff are in attendance, we will also have a coffee cart just for the staff and our community Friday Morning. I know the staff at MPS will appreciate your thanks and appreciation, please take a moment to say thanks it means so much to hear those words of kindness and gratitude!
CHANGES TO DIGITAL DEVICE USE
From 2027, the Victorian Government is introducing changes to the use of digital devices for students from Prep to Grade 6. Under the new guidelines, schools:
• will no longer invite families to purchase or bring their own digital devices to use at school for Prep to Grade 6
• will follow new recommended digital device times, including minimal device time for Prep to Grade 2; and a maximum of 90 minutes per day for grades 3 to 6.
These changes are intended to support families by reducing cost-of-living pressures. They will also support students by reducing screen-time which can reduce the risk of eye strain, sedentary behaviour, and reduced peer interaction. These reforms complement Victoria’s nation-leading mobile phone restrictions, ensuring an integrated approach to addressing digital distraction and the inappropriate use of technology.
Students with disability who use a digital device as a reasonable adjustment are exempt from these changes. These changes are intended to support families with cost-of-living pressures and reduce student screen time. You can read more about the changes on the department’s website: Digital Learning: Policy.
What this means for our school We already provide school-owned digital devices for student learning, so there is no impact on our school. We don’t have a BYOD program, and our students spend no more than 50 minutes a day on devices.
INTENTIONS TO LEAVE
If any families are intending to leave our school community and won’t be returning in 2026 because of relocation or other reason, could you please advise us as soon as possible. A phone call to the office, or an email to the school or my email account asap would be most appreciated Eudoxia.angelides@education.vic.gov.au If you have already done this … many thanks!!
