Principal's Report

Welcome Rockhampton North Families to the start of Term 4,

Dive into our latest updates, from exciting P&C initiatives and leadership highlights to tech advancements and our special day for valued grandparents. Let's celebrate our shared journey!

1. Participation in Our Upcoming P&C Meeting:

We wish to invite you to our P&C meeting scheduled for Friday, the 13th of October at 9.00am. Your involvement in school matters significantly influences the educational experience of our students. Active participation ensures a consistent approach to their learning journey. Additionally, thanks to the persistent efforts of our P&C, we have successfully obtained grants for the construction of a Sensory Garden, a space we believe will greatly benefit our students. We truly value your insight and would greatly appreciate a strong attendance to collaboratively shape our school's future and discuss these exciting developments. The Sensory Garden's addition paints a picture of the proactive role that the P&C plays, and it is a compelling reason for families to attend and support further initiatives.

2. Leadership in Focus – School Captains' Speeches:

On Monday, the 16th of October at 2:10 pm, our Year 12 students will be delivering their captaincy speeches. Following them, our Year 6 students will present on Tuesday the 17th of October at 9:00 am. These events underline the importance of student leadership and advocacy. We believe in fostering a culture where students not only represent but also support and inspire their peers. Your presence will undoubtedly strengthen their confidence.

3. Integrating Technology for Future Preparedness:

We are pleased to inform that each student is now equipped with a personal learning device. As the digital era progresses, it is paramount that our students are adept at leveraging technology while also understanding its ethical use. Additionally, to further streamline communication with families, we are utilizing Seesaw. This platform allows us to share updates, achievements, and pertinent school information in real-time. Our commitment is to ensure that they are proficient and responsible digital citizens, ready for future challenges, while also enhancing our connection with our school families. If you are not yet sure how to use Seesaw please let me know so we can support you to connect with your child’s teacher and be a part of all the great work that is happening in classrooms.

4. Positive Behaviour for Learning – Remarkable Progress:

Our recent data showcases noteworthy improvement in student behaviour. We have observed an increase in expected behaviour levels, from 65% to 84%. This is a testament to the consistent and engaging classroom environments crafted by our staff, and the invaluable guidance of our PBL Coaches. We believe in acknowledging and reinforcing positive behaviour, ensuring our students are well-prepared for both academic and personal success.

5. Grandparents/significant others Day on Friday the 27th of October:

We warmly invite all grandparents and significant others to join us in a special celebration of the vital roles they play in our students' lives. Grandparents often offer a unique blend of wisdom, history, and love, enriching our students' perspectives and grounding them in familial traditions. Their stories, experiences, and endless support are cornerstones in the shaping of young minds. To honour their indispensable influence, a special morning tea will be catered by our Senior Secondary. Please mark the date and join us in this celebration.

May the splendid spring weather sow kindness and happiness in your lives. Until next time, please stay connected as my door is always open to all 😊

Kind regards,

Dehlia Dawson
