From the Principal

We have had a positive start to Term 4 and with lots of extra curricular activities planned, we certainly have a busy and exciting term ahead.

I would like to welcome four staff members to ARPS this term: Ashlee Coleman, Bronte Mackinnon and Lisa Franklin who have joined the Year 5/6 Team and Mei Ding who has joined the Kindergarten Team. Mrs Coleman is a returning teacher and Miss Mackinnon, Miss Franklin and Mrs Ding are new to the ARPS PLC. I am confident all teachers will achieve great outcomes this term.

The Year 3 students are all excited for the Sleepover tomorrow night, Friday 6th October.  Such events are not only an excellent opportunity for our students to strengthen their friendships but also to learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, responsibility, and independence. We really appreciate the support of parents and trusting our staff in making this sleepover a memorable and positive experience for our students.

Exciting news! NEUTRON LIGHTS have made the Top 10 Finalists in the National Game Design Challenge and three of our Year 5 students: Jordan, Steven and Ryan, will be attending the Awards Gala evening in Sydney next week on Tuesday 10th October. The students will spend the day meeting scientists and science communicators from Arludo and the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in a series of workshops. During the Award gala evening, the winning team will be announced in front of an esteemed audience of educators, scientists, gaming enthusiasts and more!

Good Luck NEUTRON LIGHTS. You are winners already for getting this far! Thank you Ms Meade for supporting and encouraging the students to participate in such an exciting event.

The Senior and Junior Choir are vocally warming up for the big Voices of the Choir competition on Tuesday 10th October. Miss Brewer and the junior and senior choirs have spent countless hours perfecting and fine-tuning their vocal techniques and pouring their hearts into every note. The choirs will be performing a practice run at assembly before the big performance. Come along to the assembly tomorrow afternoon in the hall at 2.45pm and witness the unity and cohesion of our choir members, which is nothing short of inspiring!

Student Wellbeing Day is coming to ARPS. I am so excited to announce that we will be hosting this very special event dedicated to celebrating our children and promoting positivity in their lives. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and nurturing their emotional and mental wellbeing is essential for their learning, personal growth and happiness.

The day is a FREE DRESS DAY for all students. Students will be attending a wellbeing incursion in the hall and participating in a day of wellbeing activities with a wellbeing show bag to take home! Details are in the Student Wellbeing Day Flyer on page 3 of the newsletter.

Athol Road Primary School Council would like to run a Sausage Sizzle on Saturday 14th October in conjunction with the upcoming AEC Referendum. This event not only provides a wonderful opportunity for our school and local community but also supports school fundraising.

To make this a success, we are seeking your support. We kindly ask for volunteers to assist with various aspects of the sausage sizzle, including setup, cooking, serving, and cleanup. Your involvement will play a crucial role in ensuring the sausage sizzle runs smoothly and the workload is shared.

If you can help, please contact the school office on 95471224 or email athol.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au
