Visual Arts

Last week students in 5/6 worked on finishing off their dragon masks.

The final stages involved completing pattern work and considering what presentation option worked best.

Some students cut around their mask, mounted it onto cardboard and then re-cut it to make a truer mask; some opted to paste onto black paper; some completed their pattern work and added a border.

Students in 3/4 were involved in making artworks for the purpose of promoting the last Wangaratta Jazz Festival.

Students were provided with a train window template that fit the theme of ‘The Midnight Special’.

Students were given the option of completing their own drawing, or tracing around a range of different silhouettes and adding background colour.

Here’s a few…

Students in 1/2 also spent some time considering Art from other cultures.

After viewing and discussing the colours, shapes and textures evident on some images of Chinese dragon puppets, students began a construction project using egg cartons as a base.

We now have a sea of green egg cartons lined up in the Art room… soon to be turned into something like this -

Students from Foundation continued creating panda-related artwork last week by completing a hand puppet.

Students either completed the pre-printed panda, or used a blank template to create their own version.

Students enjoyed using these simple puppets and using different voices in impromptu plays throughout the art making session.

Here’s an idea of what they looked like…
