St. Bernard’s turns

Our reflection this week is a prayer of gratitude written by Sister Gail, the last Brigidine Sister to minister at St. Bernard’s.Sister Gail wrote this prayer as one of the prayers of the Faithful for our 50th Celebrations.

Grateful

Lord we thank you for all that has taken place over the last fifty years since St. Bernard’s school began its journey.

We are grateful for:

The dedicated staff, the principals,  the teachers, the teacher, aides, the admin officers and those who attended to the maintenance of the grounds and buildings and all those who have contributed their skills and expertise,

For the generous support of parents over many years,

For the unending support and encouragement of all our priests and pastoral associates,

For the beautiful  students who have entered our doorways

Lord we ask you to bless us and guide us as we continue this journey of faith and learning.

 Lord hear us.

Join us as we celebrate our 60th birthday at the opening night of our annual art show.

Enjoy fine finger food, beverages and enjoy the talents of the artist in the works displayed.

This is the social gathering  for our jubilee and a great opportunity for parents and friends to join our school community to celebrate this amazing milestone.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite, the link is found in the art show information page in the newsletter.

Dear Parents Welcome to week 4 of term 4.

School Camp

On Monday morning our very excited grade five and six children headed off on school camp to Borambola, NSW.

Reports back have been very positive and it appears our children are having a fabulous time enjoying all the outdoor activities, the photos posted on our facebook page give a great overview of the children enjoying themselves.

Sacrament of Reconciliation change of date!

The date for the reception of the Sacrament for Reconciliation will now be

6.00 pm Thursday 9th in St. Bernard’s chapel.

The children and myself  have been working weekly as we learn and grow in our understanding of Forgiveness.

The children have begun writing the prayers for the celebration ensuring the liturgy is truly theirs and relevant to their understanding of the sacrament.

We look forward to this special celebration with our children.

Staff Changes

We have employed several new teachers who will be joining our school.

Jacob Schonafinger, Joseph Chatwin, Bianca Vescio, Lucy Turner and Isabella Carnovale.

We look forward to these teachers joining our school and bringing with them a wealth of diversity in interests and experience.

Dave O’Brien will leave St. Bernard’s at the end of the year to join Cathedral College and Rebecca Whale will head back to Melbourne.

We thank Rebecca and Dave for all they have contributed to our school community and will farewell them at the end of the year.

Thank you

Have a great week everyone!
