RU OK? Day

On Thursday 14 September THS participated in RU Ok? Day. A free bacon & egg sandwich was provided in the COLA & staff/students were encouraged to wear Yellow to show support. 

SASS Recognition Week

THS celebrated School Support Recognition Week, an opportunity for us to celebrate school administrative and support staff (SASS) and other non-teaching staff and the essential role they play in public education. We would like to thank & formally acknowledge the important roll SASS and other non-teaching staff are to Tenterfield High School. Our SASS staff were treated to a special afternoon tea as a small token of our appreciation.

Youth Drivers Expo

Year 11 students attended the Youth drivers Expo in Tamworth on 1 September. It was an invaluable experience for all attendees & we thank Rotary Tenterfield for their financial assistance.

Safe Driving Training

On Friday 8 September Year 11 students attended the Safe Driving Training at Carnell Raceway. Students were exposed to car control techniques, focused on remaining in control of a vehicle under heavy breaking, steering & vision skills & looking & thinking ahead to avoid dangerous situations.

Year 6 Transition

Year 6 students attended their final transition day on 5 September. It has been great to see each group get involved in all three activities over the past few weeks. Thank you to everyone who helped make the transition days a fun experience. Our next & final visit will be Orientation Day 28 November.

Oorala Aboriginal Centre UNE Armidale

Mr Armstrong, Mrs Bancroft-Stuart & Students visited UNE on Wednesday 4 September. Participants were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of tertiary learning opportunities with a hands-on learning experience. It looks like everyone took a lot away from the experience, well done to all attendees!

Premier's Debating Challenge

On 1 September, Ms Scott was guest adjudicator for debates held between Sir Henry Parkes Memorial Public School & Inverell Public School in the final round of the Premier’s Debating Challenge. 

The Tigers (Sanuki, Pippa, Resandi and Lucy) won their debate with the topic that students should have to cook dinner for their family one night a week.

The Terriors (Henry, Hannah, Keana and Eryk) were unfortunately beaten in their debate about students having to do 30 minutes of chores each day. 

 

Mind Your Mates

On Tuesday 5 September, staff participated in the Mind Your Mates workshop from Lifeline. Ebanie and Lisa taught staff an awareness of mental health issues how to recognise signs that someone may need help. This was a great workshop that we encourage others to take part in!
