Bell Shakespeare: Macbeth

Witches, prophesies, and floating daggers seduce Shakespeare's most infamous married couple, Macbeth and his devious wife, to kill the king of Scotland. This is a tragedy of deception and spiraling paranoia. The players from Sydney-based company Bell Shakespeare, however, turned this murderous tale of unchecked ambition on its head in their hilarious live adaptation here at the College recently. Shakespearean characters were brought to life and Year 11 students' learning of the play was consolidated in a truly comedic and interactive theatre masterclass.

Indigenous Literacy Day

Recently the Endeavour College community celebrated Indigenous Literacy Day through dress-up, hot chocolates, storytelling, games, and a fabulous morning tea. Staff and students dressed up as a full cast of diverse and eclectic fictional characters.

Funds raised will enable The Indigenous Literacy Foundation to continue their great work in providing culturally appropriate resources to remote communities.

The day was a great celebration of stories, cultures, and languages.

Centre Stage

On Thursday 31 August, 44 Senior Music students presented the annual ‘Centre Stage’ concert to an audience of family and friends. This concert was held in Plaza 1 and featured seven different ensembles. Groups that performed included the Big Band, Show Band, Vocal Ensemble, Year 10 Band, Flute Ensemble, Funk Band and Rock Band.

Each ensemble presented 2-3 pieces of music that ranged from rock to jazz, pop and Disney. Highlights included the Flute Ensemble’s quirky piece ‘Walk Like This’ which featured choreography and some unusual flute techniques such as singing into the flutes.

The Show Band’s rendition of the Dr Who Theme was dramatic and exciting to listen to, and the Rock Band captured the audience with the songs ‘Free Bird’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. Each ensemble performed at a high level, with many students achieving very high grades for their performances.

Thank you to Cameron Barrett who filmed the night and to Mr Daniel Wooldridge, Mr Callum Unger and Ms Cristy Cox for directing several of the ensembles.

If you missed this performance, be sure to come along to the Middle Years Concert at the end of Term 4!
