On Wednesday this week, students from SEDA College in Hawthorn visited our school and facilitated a sports program for our students. The activities took place in the primary playground, and the activities included a tug of war, mini hurdles, tunnels, handball, stepping stones and a bean bag toss. All the primary students had the opportunity to participate in small groups at their own pace, which enabled everyone to be included. Many thanks to the SEDA students for their support on the day, and to Tom, one of our Health and Physical Education teachers, for organising the fun event.

Spring is definitely in the air, so it is a timely reminder to ensure your child has a hat to wear at school with their name on it. If your child doesn't like to wear a hat, the staff in their classroom can support them towards this, so it is a good idea to send one in anyway. We do apply sunscreen on students before every outside play, however it is also wise to send your child to school with sunscreen on, and we can re-apply this through the day. As the weather warms up, your child will need to have an outer layer that can be removed, with a T-shirt (not a singlet) underneath. We do understand that wearing a hat, sunscreen or removing a jumper can be challenging for some children, and that is okay. We model this daily, and explicity teach how and why we need to look after our bodies in the sun.

Some of students love water play in the warmer weather, so please make sure your child has at least one full change of clothes at school. Also, if you have any track pants or shorts your child has outgrown at home, please send them in for our 'spare clothes' cupboard.

It is an exciting Term 4 with our School Performance only weeks away, Life Education visiting with Harold the Giraffe, excursions coming up, and even a Santa visit. Permission notes will be sent home soon for these events. If you have any questions about anything happening this term, please feel free to contact your class teacher or myself.

 Room 6

What a positive start to Term-4 for Room 6! The students engage in every lesson with continued enthusiasm and motivation.  In literacy, we are learning to retell a story by sequencing the pictures in the right order.  In Numeracy, we are learning to count money. First we observed coins and identified the attributes of each coin.  Engaged in hands – on activities sorting coins and notes by colour, thickness, size and images. Play shops were fun where we matched the coins to the price tag of a number of items and calculated the price with support.  We will continue the learning throughout the term to get better at our money skills as well as social skills. The sports incursion was lots of fun and enjoyable with a variety of physical activities to engage in.  We look forward to more planned incursions and excursions for the rest of the year.
