This week's notes
Dear families and friends,
Urban Upcycle
On Wednesday we hosted Nicole from Urban Upcycle for a session on how we can reuse much of what we might throw out. The students made some magnificent creations using a range of interesting recycled materials. Photos can be found within this newsletter.
2023 Readers Cup Challenge
The Readers Cup Challenge is an interschool reading challenge. Teams from Macarthur, Penshurst, Dunkeld, Branxholme, Coleraine and Cavendish all compete for top honours.
The Cavendish Reading Team is made up of Darcy, Tilly, Mietta, Holly, Justin and Addison.
Team members have a selection of 6 books to read and they create a presentation about one of the books and complete a book quiz on the challenge day. Special guest judge and co-host will be Australian Children's Author, Alison Reynolds.
The Challenge Day is on November 27th at Branxholme Wallacedale School.
Dis-Glo
Only 7 sleeps to go!
Merryn and Callie have been in today letting children put the final colourful touches on their white t-shirts ready for the Dis-Glo next Friday night. It should be a fun-filled night so be sure to come along.
Fleece and Flower - Mystery Jars
The Fleece and FlowerShow is coming up on Friday 10th November. The school will be running a stall with games for children. We ask if each family can provide 1 or 2 wrapped Mystery Jars that we can sell for $3.00 each.
Jars can be delivered to school from November 6th to 10th.
Mystery Jars are jars filled with goodies, wrapped in wrapping paper to conceal the contents. Each jar is given a number, if you select number 21 you get Jar 21.

We wish our Blast Cricket Team good luck for next Thursday's competition at Pedrina Park. Starting at 9:30am matches will be played in a round robin format on modified grounds. Team members are:

No more heat up lunches
As the weather is warming up we will no longer be heating up school lunches for students.
Paper Truck Loading
The Lions Club are once again loading the paper truck this Sunday morning (22nd October). Anyone that can help from 10am onwards would be much appreciated by the Committee.
Cavendish Men's Shed Visit- Junior Landcare Grant
Our visit on Tuesday to the Men's Shed was a success. Graham Haeusler was our guide and showed us through the shed. We we impressed by the skills of the volunteers and with the wide range of wood and metal items they have made. We were shown a completed nesting box and some of the flat packed boxes that the Year 4/5/6 students will be building. Next week we will listen to visitors from Birdlife Hamilton and Hamilton Field Naturalist about what creatures we might expect in the nesting boxes and why we need to help them.
Have a great weekend
