2025 LEARNING ITINERARY - Cycle 4

The School Wide Key Understanding we are exploring this term is:

There are thinking processes that can help us manage our responses. This supports us to collaborate with others and understand their perspectives.

Our Transition Big Idea linked to this understanding is:

Our responses can impact others.

This Big idea will take us to the end of the year.

We have broken down this Big Idea into four key stages. These stages are:

  1. Different situations can affect our feelings.
  2. Our feelings might be different to other people.
  3. Our feelings can impact the way we respond.
  4. The way we respond impacts others.

To enhance this portion of our Inquiry, in English we will explore these texts:

  1. Lou - Short Pixar Film

  1. Meesha Makes Friends By Tom Percival

  1. The Pros and Cons of Being a Frog By Sue deGenarro

The English concepts that we will explore through these texts are:

  1. Character - including how to locate literal information and make inferences.
  2. Text Connections  - including making text-to-self, text-to-world and text-to-text connections.

The Maths concepts that we will explore through this Big Idea:

  1. Money - recognising and ordering Australian coins and notes. Solving money problems involving change.
  2. Problem Solving - a chance to apply the multiple skills we have been developing this year in real-world concepts. Particularly focusing on recording and sharing our thinking.

The Social and Emotion concepts that we will explore through this Big Idea: Positive Gender Relations.

To support the development of skills throughout this big Idea we will also be taking in part in the whole school Step Up program, in which we experience short bursts of change regularly throughout the term. Step Up is a chance for us to practice being in Grade 2 and 3, and experiencing new spaces, faces and routines before meeting our new class and Teacher in Week 10.

We will also be spending time throughout the final 6 weeks celebrating our year together, and consolidating our 2025 learning, experiences and routines.

We encourage students to be agents of their own learning, we remain flexible on pacing which means our Inquiry may move faster than originally planned, or may require more time with one or more concepts.

If you have any questions about this Inquiry, or you have any skills, resources, experiences or talents that may help us as we explore the concepts, please contact your classroom teacher.

We acknowledge the role of families in learning so please take every opportunity to talk to your child about their learning, share your own stories of transition with them and build connections between your child, your family and their learning at school. Formal assessment will be communicated through Semester reports.

With kindness,

Junior Team
