Principal's Post
TERM 4: 2025 Week 5-6: reminders and critical messages
I'd like to start off by acknowledging our hardworking teachers; it is of course World Teacher's Day today and whilst the celebration and acknowledgement of our staff shouldn't be kept to a single day, it's important to take a moment and reflect upon the dedication, hard work and care that each and everyone of our teachers take to support our Wembley students. As a leadership group, we are immensely grateful for our teachers.
Thank you to our community for understanding and supporting our decision not to hold a Halloween Dress-Up this year - we look forward to a return of the Spookathon next year! For those families participating tonight - Happy Trick or Treating!
There is a considerable amount of info below about the fete, but I do want to draw parents attention towards remembering that the fete is a parent supervised event. Whilst teachers will be onsite, it is a community event whereby student safety, engagement and behaviour is at the responsibility of parents. We understand that some parents may not get to the fete straight away, so please ensure that you have either booked your child into Their Care (who will facilitate their children to attend the fete) or have made arrangements with another family to be the point of contact and supervision. Whilst there are no guidelines about this, I would suggest that a 1:4 parent - child ratio is at the upper limit of what is likely to be reaonable for such an action-packed and fun event.
It is a long weekend for Wembley families this weekend, with Monday being our final Curriculum Day of the year (pupil free day), followed by Cup Day public holiday on Tuesday 4th November. If families require care on Monday, please book a spot at Their Care (accessed online).

Many of the businesses listed below are run or owned by Wembley families. I will reach out individually to each family or business, but wanted all in our community to be aware of their generosity.

Newsletter: This coming week (Week 5) will see the new iteration of our newsletter published, which will celebrate learning and events in each year level: navigate to the 'Year Level' page, in order to see a snapshot of your child's learning focus.
Website: If you haven't recently visited it, our website has undergone a small makeover. Thank you again to parent volunteers, Cesar Salmerone and Joanne Manariti for their photographic contributions. We are still working on the website and anticipate its full completion by start of 2026.
Student safety: When out in the yard upon drop off/pick up, please take action if your child is climbing fencing, goal post protective sleeves, or up on the footy-goal posts. We do not encourage these actions because they can result in injury and also damage the property - especially the protective sleeves on poles, and it helps if we have parents supporting these messages too.
