Principal Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Community,
What an exciting few weeks it has been at Glen Innes High School!
Firstly, I would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Mr Matt Dodds, who has been recognised nationally with the Prime Minister’s Prize for Excellence in Science Teaching in Secondary Schools. This is an incredible achievement that highlights the outstanding quality of teaching at our school and the passion our staff bring to their classrooms every day. We are all so proud of Mr Dodds and the inspiration he provides to his students and colleagues alike.
Our Year 12 students have now completed their HSC examinations, marking the end of their formal schooling. This is such an exciting time, filled with both anticipation and reflection. We are immensely proud of their efforts, resilience, and determination throughout their final year. We look forward to celebrating their achievements at the upcoming Year 12 Formal and wish them all the best as they take their next steps beyond Glen Innes High.
Last Friday we celebrated World Teachers’ Day, a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the incredible work of our teachers who dedicate their time, care, and energy to helping our students learn and grow. A huge thank you to our P&C Association for recognising our staff with a beautiful celebratory cake — it’s fantastic to see our school community coming together to show appreciation for the people who make such a difference each day in our classrooms.
Today we also recognise our amazing School Counsellors and School Psychologists as part of School Counsellor and School Psychologist Recognition Day. Their expertise, care, and commitment play a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of our students, and we are truly grateful for all they do to make Glen Innes High a safe and supportive place for every young person.
This weekend, a number of our talented students will be heading to Tamworth to perform in CAPERS 2025, a spectacular showcase of singing, dance, and music from schools across the region. It’s always inspiring to see our students representing Glen Innes High with such creativity and enthusiasm, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing the performance on Friday night.
I would also like to draw attention to the new social media age restrictions coming into effect from 10 December 2025, led by the eSafety Commissioner. These changes aim to protect young people by preventing under-16s from creating or maintaining accounts on age-restricted social media platforms. More information and resources for families can be found on the eSafety website.
Finally, I want to acknowledge how wonderful our students have been looking in their school uniforms. It’s fantastic to see so many students wearing their uniforms with
pride and representing Glen Innes High so well in the community. Please continue to encourage your children to maintain this high standard as we head towards the end of term.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. Glen Innes High continues to be a place of pride, learning, and community spirit.
Relieving Principal
