YEAR 7
Students are continuing to develop their skills in Invasion and Court games through participation in Netball, Basketball and European Handball. From Week 6, the focus will shift to Indigenous and Inclusive activities, and the term will conclude with Aquatics.
In the classroom, Year 7 have commenced the Get Moving unit, which explores the relationship between health and physical activity concepts. Students will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to make healthy and safe choices and take action to promote the health and wellbeing of their communities.
YEAR 8
Students have commenced a new unit titled Mental Health — R U OK? Throughout this unit, students will engage in structured lessons focused on a range of topics including; identity, resilience, wellbeing, gratitude and mindfulness, culminating in the development of a comprehensive Mental Fitness Plan.
In practical lessons, students will continue participating in Net and Wall games such as Mini Tennis, Newcombe Ball and Volleyball. In Week 6, the focus will shift to Target Games, with students taking part in Cricket, Croquet, Bocce and Darts.
YEAR 9
PDHPE practical lessons in Term 4 will see students participating in Striking/Fielding games, including Softball and Baseball. From Week 7 onward, students will engage in Bocce and Finska before concluding Term 4 with Spikeball and Fistball.
In the classroom, students have begun a new unit called ‘Staying Safe’. Students are participating in lessons on Sun and Water Safety and First Aid. At the end of the unit students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge by creating a learning activity for a young child.
YEAR 10
Year 10 will undertake a unit titled “Diversity and Inclusion”, in which they will develop a comprehensive understanding of the concept of diversity within our society. They will critically assess the various factors that influence inclusivity, equality and respect in relationships.
Students have commenced the term by developing Tchoukball skills in practical lessons, which will transition into game play over the coming weeks. They will then progress to Ultimate Frisbee before concluding the term with Target Games including Kubb and Darts.
YEAR 9 PASS
Students have been preparing for their upcoming Surf Trip in Week 7. They will travel to Murramarang Beachfront Holiday Resort, where they will participate in a range of activities including surfing, surf lifesaving, and stand-up paddleboarding. In preparation for the trip, students have been engaging in practical lessons such as tent setup, camp cooking, and completing a swim test at the Oasis, as well as developing their understanding of beach hazards and environmental conditions.
YEAR 10 PASS
Students have been engaged in a unit on Lifestyle, Leisure and Recreation. They have participated in a variety of practical activities, including Fast 5 Netball, Ki o Rahi, Vx and Fist Ball. In the accompanying theory unit, Technology, Participation and Performance, students have explored the positive and negative impacts of technology on sport, examined how technological advancements have enhanced participation, and analysed the ways in which the media utilise technology to increase spectator appeal.
YEAR 9 OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Outdoor Education students have been learning the skills of canoeing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. They will soon have the opportunity to put their skills into practice with a visit to Lake Albert in the coming weeks, where they’ll enjoy hands-on experience on the water.
