SUNSAFE AMBASSADORS
Meet our College SunSafe Ambassadors Holly Umback and Joel Smith. They are keen to share their new found knowledge of sun safety with the Mater Dei Community and have posters around the College and in homegroup notices.
Their important message is to be aware of the dangers of UV and minimise the risk of skin concerns by wearing sunscreen and a hat when you are outside.
Hats can be purchased at the Uniform Shop and we strongly recommend writing your name in them. Sunscreen is also available at the front office. Watch out for more updates from our ambassadors!

DEADLY PATHWAYS FESTIVAL

We were pleased to attend the Deadly Pathways Festival 2025, at Charles Sturt University, Wagga Wagga, on Tuesday, October 16. Our group of Year 9 and 10 students were provided opportunities to join with their Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peers from secondary schools across our region, to explore future tertiary study options at CSU.
Our students were introduced to First Nations role models in science, technology and health and engaged in insightful workshops led by Charles Sturt academics. The workshops included hands-on activities designed to stimulate curiosity and passion for learning. The workshops included the personal experiences of Indigenous people who have previously completed tertiary studies in these fields. Our students attended the seminars on Community Services and Education.
Highlights of the day included a Welcome to Wiradjuri Country by local Elder Aunty Sheryl Penrith. The Ashmont Public School Dancers performed, and led all attending in the Willy Wagtail Dance, from Yuin Country (south-east coast of NSW). The day was hosted by comedian Andy Saunders, and featured talented musicians to entertain us as we enjoyed a relaxed lunch in the Alumni Garden. Some of our lucky students received prizes at the end of the day raffle draw.
Thank you to Mr Bailey for attending and for transporting us to and from the campus.
Our thanks to CSU event organisers for a highly successful and informative program. We hope to participate again in the years to come.
