The first week of Advent

The first candle we light on the Advent wreath is called the Candle of Hope. It reminds us that God’s people waited a long time for the promised Savior, and we also wait with hope for Jesus to come at Christmas. This candle teaches us to trust in God’s love and to look forward with joy. As Advent begins on November 30th, below is a prayer you may like to share with your family during this time.

Loving God,

As we light the first candle of Advent,

we remember that you are the light of the world.

Fill our hearts with hope and help us to prepare for the coming of Jesus at Christmas.

Bless our families, friends, and school community.

Guide us to share kindness and joy each day.

We wait in hope, trusting in your love.

Amen.

End of Year Mass
