THE WEEK THAT WAS IN PREP 

Our preps have shown immense growth in their ability to collaborate independently both in the classroom and outside. 

In literacy we have been continuing to focus on learning a new sound each week, and using this knowledge to both blend and read words furthermore spell and write words and sentences independently. Students practice reading and spelling with a partner before independently doing so. 

In inquiry, students have been creatively building a structure for us to use to plant and grow chia seeds off. They have demonstrated creativity, ambition but also compassion as they all supported each other for extra pairs of hands. We also took a trip to our garden and took part in observational drawing of the garden beds prior to us cleaning it up. In the process we pulled out a herb that still had the seed attached and discussed the parts of a plant and how each section has a vital role to play in supporting the plant to stay alive.
