I'm with Cupid

This year our CAPALoT team staged our inaugural junior production, 'I'm with Cupid', providing an opportunity for our younger students to take leading roles and develop their love of the performing arts.

This was a truly student-led production, with all those on stage embracing their first speaking and solo singing roles, as well as students running the practical and logistical elements of the production behind the scenes - audio, lighting, visuals and even co-directing.

By working together to create something truly special, all those who took part experienced the excitement and reward of putting on a great show - new friendships were forged and students gained great confidence in their own abilities.

As the final bow was taken, the applause echoed the immense dedication, massive enthusiasm and hard work poured into this fantastic production.

Huge congratulations to our talented students, our Leader of Learning Mr Combes who wrote the musical, and the entire CAPALoT team for making this show such a resounding success.  Together, they have illuminated a bright path for the future of performing arts at Chevalier College.

We can't wait to see what's next!

Sports Forum

The College held a Parent and Carers Sports Forum on Wednesday 1 November with the following focus:

  • share the history of sport at Chevalier and how we have arrived where we are toda
  • share feedback from the 2021 parent and student survey
  • discuss 2023 developments and challenges in the College sporting program
  • share some future thinking and gather feedback from those present.

Details shared on the evening included the impact of disruptions on sports participation rates at the College in recent history. COVID as well as climate events of 2019 and 2022 saw a decline in the participation of students, which has been recouped in 2023 with an increase in participation of 9% when compared to 2022.

To provide further context for the evening, the results of a parent and student survey conducted in 2021 was shared with those in attendance. The survey asked participants to rate their satisfaction with the College sports program in several areas. Both parents and students indicated high levels of satisfaction in many areas.

The open-ended responses gathered in 2021 indicated that respondents would like to see exploration in the following areas:

  • quality of coaching
  • playing surfaces and facilities
  • the concept of compulsory sport
  • commitment of students to training and games.
