From 31 October to 2 November, Year 10 students had the opportunity to participate in the buddy leader program. The aim of this program is to give Year 10 students the opportunity to assist and give the incoming Year 7s a flawless transition from primary school to high school. Through this program, Year 10 students develop skills such as mentorship, guidance, responsibility, and overall learning skills in order to look after and assist the new Year 7s in 2024. The buddy leader program helped us to form connections with the other buddy leaders within our houses whilst preparing us for the role that we will play next year to help the Year 7s feel welcomed, and to give them good start to their high school experience and being a part of the Chev family. Through the training, we spoke to the school counsellor Sarah about our values and strengths that will guide us to be the best buddy leaders we can be. We then learnt some initiative games to play with the Year 7s. This was a good experience, and we are looking forward to continuing this journey with the incoming Year 7 students.
