Celebrating 'G' Day: Honouring Great People at Chevalier College
Yesterday, at Chevalier College, we celebrated a day that is dedicated to acknowledging the great people in our lives who make a significant difference. 'G' Day, as we fondly call it, is an occasion where we pay tribute to the extraordinary individuals who shape our journey and inspire us to become better versions of ourselves. These great people come in various forms, but they all share a common thread of compassion, forgiveness, love and kindness, embodying the values of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart (MSC).
In my address on 'G' Day, I emphasised that the great people we celebrate are not limited to famous figures or larger-than-life personalities. Rather, they are the grandparents, godparents, mentors and friends who quietly, yet profoundly, influence our lives for the better. These are the ordinary individuals who perform extraordinary acts of kindness and support that resonate with the core values of Chevalier College.
Great people, in essence, are the pillars of the village that raises a child. They are the unsung heroes who stand beside us, nurturing and guiding us on our path to adulthood. They are the ones who help us find our way in the world and instil in us the values that we, in turn, pass on to the next generation.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all the great people who form part of the Chevalier College community. You are the embodiment of the MSC values of compassion, forgiveness, love and kindness. You are the ones who partner with our dedicated staff to nurture our young people, empowering them to grow into adults who flourish and make a positive difference in the world.
Your contributions, whether through financial support, volunteer work, or simply being a caring presence in the lives of our students, do not go unnoticed. You are a vital part of your family and, by extension, an important part of our community, and your dedication is invaluable.
As we look to the future, we remain committed to fostering a nurturing environment where our students continue to flourish. We recognise that it is only with your unwavering support that we can fulfil our mission and empower the next generation to make a lasting, positive impact on the world.
Thank you for being the great people in our lives, for standing with us, and for helping us create a brighter future for our students. Together, we can continue to shape the leaders and change-makers of tomorrow.
