Sport

Sports Academy

This term, all Sports Academy students have been coaching Year 3 students in a variety of sports. Our focus was to keep the Year 3s engaged and having fun during the sessions. Sports Academy students chose to coach either Football, Netball or Soccer. The Year 3s tried a different sport each week. They had to work together to plan their sessions and then implement them with the younger students.

On Thursday morning, Yoga and Pilates instructor Meg came to run a session for us. It was great to practise different poses and hear how yoga can benefit a lot of the sports we play and help us stay in control and in the zone during sports. Thanks Meg for your session, it was great!

Division Cricket

On the 26th of October the 5/6 boys took part in the Division Cricket Championship at Elgar park. We arrived and we felt electric, we were ready for the first game.

We played against St James Primary School with Shiwon and Xavier opening.  They got a good score then when Leo and Zac came in they got around 50 runs which is good. We ended the game with a good score of 144 with 3 wickets and restricted St James to just 88 runs for 8 wickets.

In game two we were playing against Beverly Hills Primary School. We batted first and achieved a score of 143 for 8 wickets, but ultimately fell 30 runs short of victory.

We had a good lunch then went to our game 3, our last game of the day. We played against Vermont Primary School and did really well in the field and cut out the errors that cost us in game two and restricted Vermont to 143 for 4 wickets. Unfortunately Vermont bowled perfectly, and we couldn't get our shots away. We came up short of victory and Vermont qualified.

Thanks to Sheree, Fiona and James for helping organise the day and to all the parents who took their time to take us, cheer us on and pick us up from the event.
