Community Partnerships Update

Each Monday we have a student representative from each class go to Rushworth Community House to help with the 10am craft group.

This craft group is open to everyone. We encourage any family member that is interested in crafts and are available at 10am on a Monday to participate in this opportunity. We have also been informed that young children are able to accompany you.

Likewise, if you know of anyone who is interested in crafts, please let them know of this session.

Big Write and VCOP Talk Homework

Our next Big Write is a Cold Write and will be held on Thursday 9th November, 2023. Our topic will be revealed on the day of the Cold Write. The students will be given minimal support and encouraged to show their current writing ability.

End of Year Testing and Report Writing

Today’s Pupil Free Day allowed staff to get started on the students' semester 2 reports. Lots of consideration goes into writing these reports to ensure that they accurately reflect each individual student. Reports are being written to reflect the units covered in this semester, as well as yearly growth.

Last month all students completed the PAT-M Linear and PAT-R Linear. It has been amazing to see the students' growth with these assessments compared to October, 2022. PAT-M and PAT-R uses a scale score that varies with the difficulty of the questions and the test level given. It is expected that we will see some students have a lower scale score comparative to last year due to them being given a harder test.

In PAT-R, since October, 2022’s assessments, 76% of our students increased their scale score by at least 2 points, and 13% of students maintained their scale score. We did have 11% of students decrease in their scale score, but all of those students undertook a harder test by at least 1 level compared to last year.

In PAT-M, since October, 2022’s assessments, 69% of our students increased their scale score by at least 2 points, and 16% of students maintained their scale score. We did have 15% of students decrease in their scale score, but all of those students undertook a harder test by at least 1 level compared to last year.

This month the students will continue to complete testing amongst their regular class learning to show how much they have improved throughout the year.
