World Mental Health Day

We hosted World Mental Health Day on Tuesday 10th October. The day was celebrated and the aim was to promote awareness about Mental Health and Wellbeing. The SRC sold cookies and cupcakes at lunchtime for both Primary and Secondary students. Students had the opportunity to participate in yoga by Emma from Side-by-Side Tribe, the Homebase Hoops Basketball program or spend some time doing mindfulness colouring and craft activities. The day was a lot of fun and it was great to see so many students getting involved.

About Homebase Hoops:

Our Homebase Hoops is a free community basketball program, we run a six-week tournament that is run during school terms on Friday nights from 6.00pm-10.00pm for youth 10-17 years old, Supported by local community organisations and volunteers.

Homebase Hoops is fun, safe & supported activity for youth, free of drugs, alcohol, and violence.

Young people are given a nutritious meal, play multiple rounds of basketball and participate in a workshop, then transported home at the end of the night.

The idea is to ensure everyone has an enjoyable, safe night, and gets a turn on the court.
