TERM 3 MEETING: WEDNESDAY 14TH AUGUST 7PM
Please find below our Chair's report from the above meeting.
After a great trip overseas and seeing some fantastic Olympic events and sites, I was able to attend our last SAC meeting, which was held just over 4 weeks ago.
During the meeting we discussed the new plans for the changes/extension to the school. While the work on this was to commence later this year, works have now been delayed to start next year.
As mentioned in my last letter, in term 1 Naplan was conducted for grade 3 and 5 students. At our SAC meeting we were able to see the average results for the school. The results are in keeping with what the school had anticipated. You all would have received the results and information on how to decipher the results. If you feel you need further help with understanding what the results mean, please contact the school and they will help you.
Two further conversation we had were around enrolments for 2025 and school fees: Enrolments for 2025 are tracking nicely and within expectations. If you know any families looking for a school for their children direct them to contact St Michael’s ASAP so they don’t miss out.
School fees in 2025 will need to increase. As all other living expenses in 2024, school fees will need to be increased to ensure St Michaels can deliver on all its educational and extracurricular programs. Rest assured St Michael’s and MACS budgeting process is very thorough and all parameters of educational life is reviewed to ensure fee increases are kept to a minimum.
I would just like to wish all the dads a belated father’s day and thank all the teachers for organising such a lovely event last Friday. It turned out to be a great success with a huge attendance.
Finally, up to 25 year 3 and 4 St Michael’s students completed their Reconciliation just recently and at 10am on Sunday 8 September 2024 they completed their Sacrament of Holy Communication.
I would like to that Fr Nicholas, Hang and all the teachers (and parents) for their efforts during the last 10 weeks. And a huge congratulations to all the students for participating with enthusiasm and achieving these Holy Sacraments.
Regards
Joe Greco
