Library News

The Library is undergoing a clean out and update! A number of new Fiction and Non Fiction books have been purchased throughout the year and lots of books we've outgrown at SJV are being donated to the children's book charity 123 Read2Me. This fantastic organisation donates free books to disadvantaged Aussie schools and children who need them.

Take a look at the 123 Read2Me website below:

Borrowing

Please encourage your child to borrow regularly and chat to them about what they're reading. Our students have the opportunity to borrow weekly, to take books home and also keep a book or two in their classroom for reading at school.

Library lessons are centered around the Literacy curriculum and during Library classes students have the chance to borrow books of their own choice, with a focus on reading for interest and enjoyment which inevitably assists in building literacy skills such as reading fluency, spelling, writing and building general knowledge, to name a few. Students are encouraged to borrow and I've loved seeing more children borrow as the year has progressed.

Thanks to our wonderful book covering helpers! There are lots of new titles waiting to hit the shelves and I’m always grateful for help with contacting books. If you’re able to spare some time to take a small pile home (contact supplied), please send me an email or come by the library or office on a Thursday or Friday morning before/after school.

Library Days:

Thursday Yrs 3 - 6

Friday Yrs P - 2

Please remind your child to bring a cloth library bag to keep borrowed books clean & safe.

Thanks and HAPPY READING 🙂
