From the Year 1 Classroom
Welcome back to Term 4! We’re excited to kick start our final term of Year 1. We hope everyone enjoyed a restful and happy holidays.
In Reading, we’ll be completing an author study on Julia Donaldson! We’re excited to explore her wonderful stories together. If your child has any of her books at home, they’re welcome to bring them in to share with the class. Just please remember to label them, as we wouldn’t want to lose your copy. We can’t wait to dive into the magic of Julia Donaldson’s stories!
In Writing, we’re focusing on narrative writing, and we’ll be using Julia Donaldson’s books to spark our creativity! Her imaginative stories will provide a fantastic foundation for our writing. We can’t wait to see how the students flourish and craft their own engaging fiction stories. It’s going to be an exciting journey of imagination and expression!
In Maths at the moment, we’re focusing on organising, sequencing, and understanding the value of Australian money. It would be a fantastic idea to go through your piggy banks at home and help your child count how much money they’ve saved. This hands-on activity will reinforce what we’re learning in class and make it even more fun! Thank you for your support.
Just a couple of reminders:
It is now Term 4 and students must be wearing a hat when playing outside. Please ensure your child's hat is clearly labelled with their name. Remember, 'no hat, no play today'.
Reading diaries will still be checked every Friday, so please make sure you're reading everyday.
Thanks
Kristy, Sarah, Michelle and Mikaela
