Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

As we reach the end of Term 3, we want to recognise and commend the collective efforts, achievements, and positive attitude toward learning demonstrated by our students.

Our dedicated staff have continued to support all students by providing a range of additional learning opportunities and programs that help them thrive in their educational journey.

We also deeply value the contributions, feedback, and support from our families. By working together as a strong community, we can achieve the very best for our students.

Victorian Curriculum 2.0 F-10

The new Victorian Curriculum 2.0 was launched in late Term 2, and we are currently in the process of familiarisation. This updated curriculum is designed to equip students with the tools they need to thrive in an ever-evolving world marked by rapid technological advancements.

Benefits for students include:

  • Gaining access to essential knowledge and skills needed to become successful lifelong learners.
  • Smoother transitions in learning from the early years through to primary school.
  • Acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue their chosen senior secondary pathways.
  • A more streamlined curriculum that enhances the quality of teaching and learning provisions.

Year 12 Practice Exams

The Year 12 practice exam period is next week. While it is daunting for many, below are strategies that can help make it easier.

Practice makes perfect.

  1. Choose a past exam question. Students and families can access all previous years exams through the VCAA site https://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/assessment/vce-assessment/past-examinations/Pages/Index.aspx
  2. Revise. Spend 20 minutes revising what you need to know to answer your question.
  3. Do the question/questions. Set a timer for 20 minutes and answer the exam question.
  4. Mark your answer. Using the marking scheme mark your answer. This helps the students think like an examiner and what is deemed as a high-quality response.
  5. Get feedback. Show the teacher your work. This is where students can bring their questions into class, study, lunchtime or recess so we can discuss how they could improve their answers/responses.

Pivot

As part of our continuous improvement process, teachers are using data that incorporates student feedback to refine their teaching practices. This approach ensures that all students are provided with a variety of engaging learning opportunities in the classroom. During the end of Term 3, students will be completing the second cycle of Pivot surveys for their classes, sharing their opinions on the classroom environment, instruction, relationships, and student voice. Staff will be reviewing these results early in Term 4 and will be collaborating with their students and colleagues to analyse and act on the feedback received.

Booklist

The development of the 2025 book list is currently underway. New subjects and resources have been added to further enrich the breadth of our learning program across Year 7-12. The book list will be available to families in Term 4. More information will be communicated early next term.

In closing, I would like to thank the entire college community for your continued support throughout what is always a busy term. Enjoy the upcoming break, and I look forward to a positive and successful conclusion to Term 4 when we return.
