Head of Secondary Years' Report
Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Hazel Glen College,
It was so wonderful seeing so many of you out and about at the Parent-Teacher interviews yesterday. While the weather was not very pleasant, the conversations between teachers, parents and students that celebrated success and discussed areas for improvement were certainly very positive. Don't forget that the Term 3 Interim Reports are now available to view on Compass. If you have any questions relating to your child's report, please direct them to the subject teacher.
On Monday the 9th of September, I had the privilege of attending a student leadership presentation at Parade College as part of the Northern Education Alliance. This alliance was established by the Principals of local Independent, Catholic and Government schools to create a strong network of schools in our region. One outcome of this alliance has been the formation of a student leadership program to support students grow as young leaders. During the morning I witness presentations from students from all of the schools involved about an issue they want to address in their own schools. The presentations were of a very high standard and our students certainly did themselves and our college proud with their presentation about a desire to promote cultural diversity and acceptance in our community.
Some of our graduating class of 2024 have already completed their studies while others have just a couple of weeks of classes before their exams. We wish them all well as they take these final steps in their journey of secondary school education. For those of you with students who will be sitting exams in Term 4, don't forget about the revision sessions that we are offering at the College over the school holidays. More details about these sessions can be found in the Assistant Principal Report in this newsletter. It was wonderful watching our Year 12 students enjoy the "Seniors' Week dress-ups" this week. We look forward to celebrating with them on Celebration Day and Graduation next term.
I hope that all of our families have a wonderful break, and we look forward to seeing all students back at school on Monday 7th October.
