The Early Stage 1 team would like to wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxing holiday break and look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 14 October.
English
We are learning to:
- hear and say the sounds /v/, /x/, /y/, /w/ and /th/
- recognise that two letters making one sound are called digraphs
- ‘wh’ makes the sound /w/, as in ‘whale
- ‘th’ makes the sound /th/, as in ‘thumb’
- read tricky words put, as, do, like and very
- write simple sentences including an adjective, subject and verb
- choose an adjective to describe a noun.
Mathematics
We are learning to:
- use different strategies we have learnt to solve addition and subtraction word problems
- recognise shapes in a range of contexts
- sort shapes in accordance with it’s features
- manipulate shapes for different purposes.
Integrated Learning
We are learning to:
- explore the ways people share their sense of belonging
- identify a local sacred Aboriginal site
- understand why different sites should be protected and how they can be looked after.
Personal Development and Health (PDH)
We are learning to:
- recognise emotional responses that could indicate unsafe situations
- recognise appropriate touch and explore how to respond to inappropriate touch
- practise ways of seeking help in a range of different scenarios, for example, use No-Go-Tell when feeling unsafe.
Visual Arts
We are learning to/about:
- use the dot painting technique to create an artwork
- show a place that is special to our family through pictures and symbols.
