Kitchen Garden Program

Harvest Time

Kitchen Garden Program

We have had an amazing start to our Kitchen Garden Program this year.  The enthusiasm from the students and staff has made working along side everyone a delight and results are truly showing in what we have produced.

We planted our Coriander and Carrots on the 4th June this year and we harvested the carrots last week.  The students were amazed at how fresh they smelt after they washed them. We hope the students that took them home enjoyed them.

We used the Coriander in our Lettuce and Potato Soup that we made last term and know we are letting the Coriander plant flower and produce seeds.  We will leave the seeds on the plant until they are nice and dry and change colour.  Then we will be able to make coriander powder for other recipes and put some of the seeds back in the ground to complete the life cycle.

I am proud to say that we grow the most perfect Cauliflower, the best I have ever been able to grow.  The photo's below tell the story, it is because everyone gets involved in caring for the plants that they do so well.  The end picture of the Cauliflower is really a picture of what amazing fresh produce looks like.
