Holy Saviour School Bulletin

Dear Families,

What an amazing day we all had today visiting the MCG to take a look at the Australian Sports Museum, participate in the Game On exhibition, tour the facilities, and then venture to Birrarung Marr for lunch and a play on the playground! We were very lucky with the weather, and it was a wonderful way to end the school week!

Early Finish

Do not forget we have an early finish on Friday 20th September at 1pm, this is the end of term 3. Term 4 begins on Monday 7th October.

Long Service Leave & Principal Pilgrimage

I will be taking 4 weeks' Leave (including 2 weeks of school holidays) from Monday 16th September to Tuesday 15 October. This leave will involve a week or two of some Rest & Relaxation before I join approximately 23 other Principals from our East Central Zone and North East Zone on a walking pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago in Spain. We will be walking approximately 120 km from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela, the resting place of St James the Apostle. I’m really looking forward to this opportunity to journey to such a sacred place, to have the time to wander with wonder, and to take moments of quiet and reflection along the way.

I feel blessed to be able to take this time knowing that the school will be in the capable hands of Jenni Kilkenny as Acting Principal who will be strongly supported by the Leadership Team.

School Holiday Works

There is going to be quite a bit of work undertaken these upcoming school holidays from tree pruning, to Kinder playground developments, and potentially even the start of our big refurbishment program! Upon returning in Term 4, there may very well be changes to drop-off and pick-up procedures, as well as changed and limited access to school buildings. We will keep you updated throughout the process, but thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding at this exciting time.

Footy Colours Day - Tuesday 17th September

Tuesday 17th September  is our Footy Colours Day. Children can come to school dressed in their team's colours and the SAC will be arranging a special Footy Hot Dog lunch. Please note, CDFpay ordering has now closed for Hot Dog Orders.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS)

Thank you to the families who have already completed the Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools - School Improvement Surveys. It has taken them, on average, only 20 minutes to complete the survey! These anonymous surveys provide extremely valuable feedback on many aspects of our Holy Saviour educational environment. Staff, students and parents' feedback help paint a complete picture of the current climate and consequently help set goals for our future School Improvement Plans. The data collected will be used as part of our four yearly review next year. Emails were sent to families at the beginning of this week with your unique login information, if you have lost it, please let me know and I will send it through to you again.

Holy Saviour Art Show

It’s back for 2024! The Holy Saviour Visual Art Show will be showcased on the afternoon and evening of Tuesday 29th October. Please add this date to your diaries. The children are very excited to be able to showcase all their amazing creativity from the year featuring a variety of artwork, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, and mixed media projects. We hope you can all make the time to come and celebrate your children’s accomplishments.

Holy Saviour Production - Turn Back Time

Also back for 2024 is our school production! Come and join us on a trip down memory lane as we celebrate 50 years of Holy Saviour Parish (& 47 years of our school!). This year, our production will be held on Thursday 5th December at the Emmaus College Performing Arts Centre. We are very excited to be able to present a production this year. The main roles have been cast, and all the students have begun rehearsals. All students will be involved in the production again this year, so please make sure you can make it!

Prep 2025 Enrolments

We have had great interest in Prep for 2025, as well as other year levels, and we’ve had a good number of enrolments come through already. If you have a child who is eligible to start Prep in 2025, please submit your enrolment at your earliest convenience. This will enable us to develop a clear picture of classing and group sizes for 2025. Enrolments for 2025 are to be made through the Emmaus portal
