Physical Education Term 4

Preps,

This term in our physical education classes, our young learners will be busy exploring the wonders of movement! Discovering safe ways to move their bodies while manipulating objects and navigating space. Through fun activities, they’re responding to rhythm, beat, and music, enhancing their coordination and creativity.

Our focus will be on safety in games. Students are learning to be aware of personal safety, understanding game boundaries, and the importance of following rules while using equipment properly. We encourage them to identify potential risks, develop self-regulation skills, and seek support when needed, especially during outdoor play. It’s a joy to see their confidence grow as they engage in active play!

Grade 1/2,

This term, our students will be learning the importance of communication in physical activities. They’re demonstrating appropriate verbal and non-verbal language, including body language and gestures, to encourage and include their peers in games. It’s wonderful to see them working together, sharing equipment, and practicing turn-taking in cooperative activities.

We will also discuss the significance of rules in ensuring fair play. Our students are applying these rules during group activities and reflecting on what makes different games enjoyable.

Grade 3/4,

This term in physical education, our students are enhancing their understanding of balance and movement! They are learning how to manipulate their center of gravity to improve stability during various balance activities. Through reflection, they will be discovering how applying game tactics can create scoring opportunities, enriching their strategic thinking.

In addition, students are performing routines that incorporate jumping, landing, and balancing techniques, connecting movements to create fluid sequences. It’s impressive to see them demonstrate fundamental movement skills with precision while tackling movement challenges!

Grade 5/6,

This term, our focus in physical education is on advanced movement strategies and teamwork. Students will be partnering up to explore pushing and pulling movements, learning how these can be manipulated to perform counterbalances effectively. They will develop strategic thinking by exploiting playing space to gain offensive or defensive advantages during games.

Additionally, our students are adjusting constraints within small-sided games, enhancing their decision-making skills under time pressure. They are also composing complex movement sequences, incorporating balances to travel smoothly from point to point. It’s exciting to see their growth and creativity in physical activities!

Best Wishes,
