Performing Arts Term 4
Welcome to Performing Arts Term 4!
This Term, students will dive deeper into learning about music theory, composition, and performance skills.
A main focus for the Term, all classes will be on learning a song and dance for the upcoming end of year performance on December 5th. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to get out of their comfort zones and showcase their talents on stage.
Prep
In addition to preparing for the concert, students in Prep will be learning to notate and compose through:
- Exploring music notation through the use of colours and shapes, making it a visual and interactive experience. This method will help them grasp the basics of rhythm and melody in a playful way.
- Learning to write simple rhythms and chants using basic music notes. This hands-on approach encourages creativity while reinforcing their understanding of musical patterns.
Grade 1/2
In addition to preparing for the concert, students in Grade 1/2 will be learning to notate and compose through:
- Exploring music notation by using colours and shapes, making it a fun and engaging way to understand the basics of rhythm and melody. Then extending it by notating using basic music notes.
- Using basic music notes to create their own rhythms and chants, encouraging creativity and self-expression.
- Adding melody to their rhythms and chants using keyboards. This experience will help them connect their ideas to sound.
Grade 3-6
In addition to preparing for the concert, students in Grade 3-6 will be learning to notate and compose through:
- Exploring music notation by using basic music notes.
- Using basic music notes to create their own rhythms and chants. They will then use these notes to create their own rhythms and chants, fostering creativity and self-expression in their musical journeys.
- Adding melody to their rhythms and chants using keyboards, guitars or ukuleles. This hands-on experience will help them bring their musical ideas to life.
