Curriculum
As we approach the latter half of the term, assessment sessions will become more frequent. To help students perform at their best, we encourage maintaining a good sleep routine and ensuring they have a nutritious breakfast each morning. A well-rested and well-fed student is a ready-to-learn student!
AUSLAN
Term 2, we will begin our AUSLAN lessons in Year 3 to 6. Lessons will be run through AUSLAN Education Services. For the rest of this term we will begin exploring ‘What is AUSLAN’ and how the lessons will run.
Chess
A massive congratulations to Justin for his fantastic performance at the Regional Chess Competition being held in Toowoomba! Competing against students from various schools is no small feat, requiring focus and endurance to play multiple rounds. To top it off, Justin showed incredible resilience by backing it up with NAPLAN the following day. Well done!
Netball
A huge round of applause to Tameera for her outstanding efforts at the regional netball trials in St George. Playing multiple games on a hot day is a challenge, but she represented our school with excellence. Reports from the event praised her sportsmanship and true team spirit. Well done, Tameera!
Star Lab
While it was disappointing that Star Lab had to cancel due to the weather, we remain hopeful for clearer skies on April 1st. Fingers crossed for a spectacular experience!
Recognition of Positive Learning Behaviours
Our Year 3-6 students are getting closer to their well-earned Reward Afternoon! With just 19 points to go, we are on track for an exciting Movie Experience Featuring Matilda—complete with snacks and a little relaxing. Keep up the fantastic efforts!
NAPLAN
A big congratulations to our Year 3 students for completing their Writing assessment for NAPLAN. The testing has continued this week with:
- Reading and Language Conventions – Monday, 17th March
- Numeracy – Tuesday, 18th March
Keep up the great work, and remember to rest well and stay focused!
Attendance
Attendance matters! We’ve seen fantastic attendance rates this term, despite the impact of illness in Week 5. Let’s keep building momentum:
- Week 1 – 95.8%
- Week 2 – 98.5%
- Week 3 – 97.7%
- Week 4 – 95.4%
- Week 5 – 84.6% (illness impact)
- Week 6 – 91.5%
- Week 7 – 95.8%
Well done to everyone making the effort to attend school consistently!
Leadership News
Thank you to everyone for supporting our Zooper Dooper Day! The funds raised going towards our End of Year party.
Cross-Country Training
We are continuing to run through towns, and we are now well onto our way to Brisbane, having run through both Oakey and Toowoomba during Week 6. Then Gatton and onto Ipswich in Week 7. Collectively we have now completed 333kms in our cross-country training. There were some outstanding efforts during the week, with the amazing Millie being the running superstar for Week 6.
Cross Country will be held for Kookies and Emus on Thursday 24th April and Small Schools Cross Country being held the following week at The Gums Sports Club on the 1st May.
Regards,
Anna Jones
