Japanese

Japanese High Abilities Team

On Monday 3rd of March, we met the Japanese students through Zoom. First, they introduced themselves in English and Mrs. Mori called the Australian buddy to meet up through the screen. After meeting with our Japanese buddies, some Lucas students introduced themselves in Japanese in front of everyone.

Then Japanese students did some presentations about Hinamatsuri (Girl’s Day) which was today. Then, they presented about Children’s Day in May and introduced their school in English. All of the presentations were very interesting, but I really liked the Children’s Day one. I was very impressed how the Japanese students were fluent in English and I think they practised it a lot.

We asked a lot of questions about their presentation and their school. We figured out that Japanese schools provide lunch for all students and their favourite menu is curry rice. All Australian students agreed to the idea, because we love curry, too! After that, we got into small groups to have a chat with our Japanese buddy. We spoke English and Japanese and used a lot of gestures to communicate with our buddy. It was fun.

I think this is my highlight of the High Ability Japanese Program and I enjoyed the opportunity. I wish to have another chance to talk to them or write to them soon.
