East Gippsland Cricket 7-10
A fun day of cricket was had by all at the Lucknow Recreation Reserve Friday 7th March. In beautiful sunshine our Intermediate, Year 8 Boys, Year 8 Girls and Year 7 Boys College teams banded together playing against Orbost, Lakes Entrance and Nagle Secondary Colleges. With so many students and games taking place, it is difficult to shine a light on just a few. It was observed on the day “By far our students were the most exemplary and well-behaved students on the field”, which is the standard we strive for in our representative sports program. Congratulations to the Year 8 Boys team on making it through to Gippsland level. They will compete at Morwell on Thursday 16th October. Many thanks to the staff and student helpers that umpired and coached throughout the day to make it all possible, it was greatly appreciated.
Riviera Secondary Schools Championship
Well done to the squad who represented the College on Tuesday 11th March at the Bairnsdale Field and Game arena. It was a pleasure to see some of the more experienced kids show great support to the students who were new. Our team did so well with their accuracy on the day, especially in overcast conditions! They supported one another from start to finish creating that team first environment we appreciate so much.
On behalf of Bairnsdale Field & Game, I would like to extend our sincerest gratitude for your support in encouraging students to attend the 2025 Riviera High Schools Championship. We were thrilled to see the fantastic participation of around 140 students from all around Gippsland, demonstrating outstanding enthusiasm and commitment to the sport. It was truly inspiring to witness their dedication and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Gippsland Swimming
Students who qualified at district level were able to compete at Gippsland Regional Swimming Championships at the Sale Pool. The competition was very tight with many of our finishers either narrowly winning or losing by a fingernail, in what proved to be a very exciting day of competition. Congratulations to our team of 11, who placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 16 races. Also, we wish good luck to Cooper and Ashley who have qualified for the State Championships on 1st May at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre.
