Have you moved house recently?
If your home address, email address or phone contact details have changed, please email the college homesead.senior.sc@education.vic.gov.au with the updated details.
Updating addresses does not affect your place in the college, even if moving out of the schools zone.
The safe pick up and drop off of our students is essential.
Parents are reminded that pick up and drop off for Homestead is on Coaching Parade only and the available spaces are up alongside the gymnasium.
The school day starts at 8:45AM with Period 0. Students are expected here by then. Any student arriving to class after 9:15AM is late and the Student Management Team will follow up with this. While the majority of students are on-time or early, we are seeing some students arriving late and claiming they were dropped off by parents. Parents, please
ensure you support your child and the school, by insisting they are on time.
Pick up and drop off on the grass strip on Point Cook Homestead Rd is dangerous and must not be used. Parents are asked to consider pick ups outside of the busy period of 3PM-3:10PM. After 3:10PM, there is sufficient space on Coaching Parade.
Please note that the bus stop, marked by the yellow lines is for the school bus only, between the hours of 8AM-9AM and again between 3PM and 4PM.
We have had families be fined for dropping students off in this space during these times.
Visitor Car Park (Car Park 2)
Please know that this space is for visitors, and not for drop off and pick up. The number of spaces here is limited and drop off and pick up causes undue congestion here. Please ensure that drop off and pick up is from Coaching Parade. Drop off or Pick Up outside normal times are ok for this carpark as the number of cars is limited.
Students and Parents are asked to please be aware of the HSSC Student Driver's Policy.
This policy designed for the safety of all students driving to and from school and for any students considering being the passenger of a student driving to and from the college.
The Student Driver's policy is communicated to students through year level assemblies and will require documentation to be completed by students driving to and from the college. The policy can be found in our policy manual, found on the college website under the parent information tab.
Dear Parents/Carers,
It has been a priority of our school's Engagement Team to support students with their learning, provide the highest quality education and foster essential life skills. We endeavour to engage all of our students in all aspects of their schooling and take pride in them being called a Homesteader.
To ensure that our teachers can effectively deliver their lessons and for students to benefit from this educational experience, we have been closely addressing student lateness. While the number of late students is not large at Homestead , we work hard to keep it this way. Lateness disrupts not only the individual student’s learning but also the entire classroom environment.
Students are encouraged to come to school early and make use of period 0 (8:45 – 9:15 am). They can use the library or Café to connect with their peers and teachers or complete schoolwork. This is especially the case with exams being around the corner. Also, by utilising Period 0 it ensures students are not late to class. We regard attendance as vital to a highly functioning school and as such have been recording all student's arrival times. Students who fail to arrive before 9:15 am each day will be given a detention at lunch on the same day. Repeat offenders will be provided with after-school detentions. Parents will be notified and support provided as needed.
We believe this measure will help encourage punctuality and minimise disruptions, allowing our teachers to teach more effectively and our students to benefit fully from their education. We kindly ask for your support in ensuring that your child arrives at school on time. Please discuss the importance of punctuality with your child and make any necessary adjustments to your morning routines. Your cooperation is crucial in helping us maintain a disciplined and conducive learning environment.
At Homestead we want students to stand out for the right reasons. Be it trying their best in class, demonstrating good character and positively contributing to our school community.
It also includes wearing our school uniform with pride. Students are expected to be in full school uniform every day. Those students not in uniform are supported in obtaining the correct uniform. If a student is repeatedly not wearing the correct uniform we will send the student home to get changed into the correct uniform. We ask that you please support us in ensuring that your child wears the school uniform daily.
If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me. We appreciate your understanding and continued support in our efforts to provide the best possible education for your child. Thank you for your support and understanding in this matter.
Kind Regards,
Tim Harris
