Introducing our Sports Captains!

Tyson Oli - 2025 Sports Captain

Being a part of the leadership team at Homestead is a privilege, as we are given the chance to bridge the gap between students and staff in new and intricate ways. Being a leader is an opportunity to to innovate and improve on our illustrious school, and allows us to see our school under a new light. It is an honour to be a leader and it is something that I will never forget.

From,

Tyson Oli.

Saige Short - 2025 Vice Sports Captain

I’m Saige Short, Homesteads Sports Vice Captain. I captained my AFL team last year and have had a passion for sports my whole life. My role as a leader of sport at HSSC is to encourage the girls to join in, as there are too many holding back in fear of judgement. So I’m here to lead by example and show everyone that girls are just as strong, skilled and competitive as anyone else and that we can play sports too. Sport is a huge part of Aussie culture so everyone should feel welcomed to join in and have fun! By organising events and encouraging students at this school I hope to see more people getting active, involved and hopefully creating a life long passion!

Athletics Carnival 2025

On Tuesday the 25th of February, Homestead Senior Secondary College participated in the annual Athletics Carnival. We are excited to report that the school's athletics carnival was a resounding success! The carnival was a joyous occasion that brought the entire school community together for a day of fun, competition, and celebration. The students were buzzing with energy and excitement, eager to take part in the day's events.

The students competed in a range of track and field events, including 100 and 200m sprints, long distance running, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discuss. There were also plenty of opportunities for students to simply enjoy themselves, with novelty games set up around the field. There were terrific smiles on the students' faces as they played games with their friends or just enjoyed a well-earned break from academic life. The costumes were an absolute highlight this year, with most of the students dressing up in their house colours on the day. It made the day extremely colourful and vibrant.

We are incredibly proud of all our students for their hard work, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship, and we are grateful to the teachers and staff who made this day possible. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the athletics carnival such a memorable and enjoyable event. We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Inter-school Sports

Term 1 has been an incredible season for Homestead Secondary College’s inters-chool sports teams, with our athletes displaying outstanding skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship across multiple competitions.

Our senior mixed cricket team dominated their division, taking home the championship title before finishing as runners-up at the regional level. The boys' tennis team also impressed, securing a strong second-place finish at the division championships. In the pool, our swim team had a fantastic showing, with Lucinda T, Angie T, and Vanessa M advancing to the regional championships. Although our volleyball teams did not manage to progress or place, they put up a strong fight on the day and displayed amazing school values in their support of each other. Finally, our senior boys’ futsal team have been training hard and are off proudly representing the College today.

Congratulations to all our athletes for their dedication and success - your hard work continues to make Homestead proud!
