Year 11 Student Manager Update

Every day matters

"Success doesn’t come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently." — Marie Forleo

As Term 1 comes to a close, our focus has been on supporting Year 11 students as they transition into their VCE studies. This shift brings new challenges, including increased workloads, greater independence, and higher expectations.

To assist students in managing these changes, we have provided targeted support through wellbeing check-ins, and guidance on balancing academic and personal commitments. Teachers, The Wellbeing Team and the Engagement Team have been working closely with students to develop effective study habits, manage stress, and stay on track with their coursework.

We encourage parents and carers to continue supporting their child by fostering positive study routines at home and maintaining open communication with teachers. If students need extra support, they are encouraged to reach out to their teachers or the engagement team.

We look forward to seeing our Year 11s grow in confidence and resilience as they progress through their VCE journey.

Year 11 students at Homestead are expected to:

  • Commit to learning: Complete work on time, prepare for SACs and exams, and stay organized. Follow the coursework using the S checklist and work towards receiving a satisfactory score for Units 1 and 2.
  • Attend and be punctual: Be in every class, on time, and ready to learn. School starts at 8:45 am with Period 0 — use this time to prepare for the day and be ready for learning.
  • Engage and participate: Contribute in class, seek help when needed, and act on feedback. Take advantage of the support being offered, including the homework club that runs every Thursday from 3:10 pm to 4:10 pm. Students are welcome to use the library anyday after school from 3:00pm to 4:30pm.
  • Show respect: Follow school rules and support a positive learning environment. Be respectful to staff members as well as peers.
  • Plan for the future: Start thinking about post-school pathways and required results. Keep checking the pathways newsletter, which can be accessed on Compass.
  • Maintain balance: Manage stress and reach out for support when needed. Wellbeing support is available — don’t hesitate to ask for help.
