Prep Update

The preps have had a tremendously busy last few weeks and have been doing an outstanding job with their learning. The Prep teachers are very proud of their willingness to approach their learning in a positive manner.

Our learning-Weeks 9 &10

Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):

-To re-engage with a vocabulary of common emotions.

-To build social good will through group play.

-To learn positive self-talk strategies.

English:

-Our phonics lessons will be focusing on the sounds the letters ‘c’ and 'i' make and discover words and objects that begin with those sounds.

-Identify letters, words and sentences in texts and our oral language focus will be around rhyming.

-Take part in fine-motor activities to strengthen fine-motor skills, practise forming the letters ‘c’ and 'i' as well as building their drawing skills. We will also be using Hartley to practise forming the 'ba' shape.

Maths:

-Continue to build our knowledge of concepts such as subitising, counting, forming digits and pattern.

-Sort objects in categories using different categories and make simple patterns using a variety of objects and explain what they have done.

-Take part in our maths ‘daily review’, focusing on counting forwards and backwards, what time of the day activities take place, drawing shapes such as circles, squares, triangles and rectangles.

Inquiry:

-Discuss how to be safe in the sun, identify healthy foods and sort different types of food into healthy and sometimes food categories.

Friendly Reminders:

-Please continue sending your child's hat to school with them every day.

-Students are required to bring their blue Reader bag to school daily to enable teachers to place new sounds being learnt in their phonics books, as well as checking in on students' knowledge of letter sounds.

-Family Fun Night- Tuesday March 25th 3:30-5:30.

-Crazy Hair Day - Thursday 27th March.

-The Annual Easter Parade will be held on Friday, 4th April. This is for ELC, Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students.

-Last day of school for Term 1 is on Friday 4th April: students will be dismissed at 2:30pm.
