Upcoming ‘Careers in Navy’ Events
HMAS Arunta – Open Day 2025
Students keen on touring a navy ship, might like to tour HMAS Arunta when it docks at docks at Station Pier, Port Melbourne in early March.
Students will have the opportunity to receive expert insights and gain a first-hand account of navy life on both base and on board. Discover more about roles in the Navy ranging from engineering to communications or IT & intelligence by joining us on the HMAS Arunta ship tour.

HMAS Cerberus Open Day 2025
Defence Force Recruiting invites students to explore the Navy at the upcoming Open Day happening at HMAS Cerberus in April. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the trade, communications, IT & intelligence, or leadership roles available in the Navy.
Students will meet current Navy personnel to receive expert insights and gain a first-hand account of their lives both on base and on board. Students will also learn more about the training and ongoing opportunities for growth and development and see if a career in the Navy is for them.
Date: Sunday 6 April 2025
Time: 9:00am - 4:00pm
Location: HMAS Cerberus - Entry is via Sheean Avenue off South Beach Road, Somers. Free car parking will be available.
Registration is important and tickets will be required on the day. To assist with the management of entry into 2025 HMAS Cerberus on the Open Day, entry will be staggered in 1 hour timeslots from 9:00am up to 12:00pm.

Discover Monash Events

Cetacean Sisters Workshop - Inspiring Future Female Scientists through Cetacean Science
We would like to share with you a unique science workshop series designed especially for female secondary school students to further their understanding of science and knowledge of cetaceans (whales and dolphins).
This series comprises five, two-hour workshops held either in the picturesque Cowes on Phillip Island or in scenic Mount Martha on the Mornington Peninsula. These sessions provide an opportunity for girls interested in science and marine biology to connect with like-minded peers in a positive and collaborative setting.
Limited to only 20 students, each workshop offers interactive and practical experiences that will deepen students’ understanding of the cetaceans found in our local waters. Led by Dr. Sue Mason, a passionate local cetacean scientist and experienced educator, these sessions provide valuable insights into marine science careers, shedding light on the opportunities and realities of working with marine wildlife. The next series of workshops are scheduled for March and April.
