International Women's Day

On Saturday 8 March 2025, we will observe International Women’s Day, giving us all a chance to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women across the globe.

Women’s achievements, leadership and innovation are woven through the history of education. Croydon Hills Primary School has women of all ages that we are proud of and proud to have as members of our community.

This year’s theme ‘March Forward’ reminds us that the day is about more than just looking back: forward momentum is essential to turning promises into progress.

To help mark the day, please consider sharing International Women’s Day resources with your staff and school communities.

Focus: School Uniform - Socks

A school's uniform is a point of pride and a symbolic image of school pride.

Our school has an exceptional reputation in the community which is a reflection of the pride we have in our school.

Of late I have noticed an increasing number of students with large logos or even fully patterned socks. Our Uniform Policy articulates School Council's expectations to wear school logoed or plain (white is preferred) socks.

NB: This policy is up for review at our next School Council meeting, 7:30pm March 19. Please email me with any input. Alternatively, all members of our community are welcome at all School Council meetings - come as a guest!

School Council: Declaration of Elected Members and AGM Notification

Following the School Council nomination process, and given the number of nominations for both the parent and staff categories equals the number of vacancies, an election has not been required to establish our 2025 School Council. As a result, I am in the position to declare those nominees duly elected and announce the School Council for 2025.

Welcome:

  • Parent members: Ashley Gregory, Christian Hesse, Ben Kowalski, Tegan McLennan (all 2-year terms), and Angela Ricketson (1-year term)
  • Department of Education members: Angela Stevens and Julie Reid

They will join standing parent members Sian Jamison, Matthew Nott and Jessica Kaaden, and Department of Education members Jordan Tate, Rebecca Brown, and me (Christian), the Department's appointed Executive Officer.

The School Council's two Community Members, office bearers and Committees will be established at the School Council's Annual General Meeting of the Croydon Hills Primary School Council on Wednesday 19 March 7:30pm in the staffroom. All community members are welcome and invited to the AGM.

I would like to acknowledge exiting parent members Georgina Standfield, Matt Cook, Laura Ervine, and DE member Jacinta Kowalski for their service and contributions to the School Council.
