St John’s - A Wrapper Free School
We are reducing our waste!
Thank-you for supporting this Initiative!
Each day the Future Leaders are keeping a tally of how many wrapper free lunch boxes are in their classrooms. At the end of every 2 weeks we work out which classes have the highest percentages of wrapper free lunch boxes and the winners will be announced at assembly. The two winning classes will receive one of the Environment Mascots to keep in their room for 2 weeks and they will also receive 15 class Dojo points!
1/2B had 66% wrapper free lunchboxes and Prep had 53%, what an amazing effort!
Special mention to 3/4A who were only 1% behind the Preps.
Earth Hour at St John's - Friday, 21 March
On Friday last week, 21 March, we particpated in Earth Hour at St John's. Earth Hour aims to raise global awareness about climate change and the need for environmental action by encouraging individuals, communities, and businesses to switch off non-essential lights for one hour.
At St John’s we always try to be aware of our energy usage by making sure that lights, air conditioners, fans and heaters are turned off when not in use, we always turn taps off so that we don’t waste precious water.
Last Friday each classroom tried to reduce their non-essential power usage even more. Well done everyone!
What did you do as a family while your lights were out? Play games by lamp or candlelight? Tell stories to each other? Go for a night walk?
Chicken Facts - Did you know???
Chickens were domesticated around 5,000 years ago, making them one of the oldest domesticated animals. They were originally domesticated from the red junglefowl in Southeast Asia.
