Cyber Safety & Digital Wellbeing Program

In 2025, St John's students will take part in Inform & Empower’s Cyber Safety & Digital Wellbeing program. This is in response to discussions with the School Advisory Council last week and it will support the Parent Information Session to be held in Term 3, on Thursday, 7 August at 6.30pm.

In class students will participate in engaging and interactive live-streamed incursions each term. Developed by qualified teachers, these incursions are designed to help create safer and more positive online experiences for your children.

Inform & Empower is endorsed by the eSafety Commissioner as a Trusted eSafety Provider. Parents and carers, will be given resources to support conversations with your children at home. You will receive a concise “tip sheet” each term that outlines what your child learned about in class and how you might open up these important conversations at home.

eSmart Week 31 March - 6 April

Be Heard. Be eSmart.

This year we're empowering children and young people to use their voices to shape the online spaces they want and deserve.

Join this week-long event to celebrate all the incredible work that our schools and libraries across the country are doing to help students stay safe, smart and responsible online.

Parents can also utilise the eSmart website to learn more about helping their children stay safe online. Go to https://www.alannahandmadeline.org.au/what-we-do/prevention-programs/esmart/esmart-parents to learn more.

Headphones

We are asking that every student please bring in a set of wired headphones to use in class. These will be kept in your child’s tote tray in class, or in a designated pocket labelled with your child’s name. It will be for their use only.

Headphones are essential for a number of things we do in class, which can include listening to podcasts in English, when using programs such as Reading Eggs, Essential Assessments or watching a video clip as part of our learning task. Reasonably priced headphones can be purchased at Kmart or Big W.
