This Week's Gospel - Luke 13:1-9
This week, my favorite fruit was mentioned in our Gospel, the FIG, serving as a reminder of how our Savior offers us the time to repent and transform our lives. In the parable, a man was disappointed after three years of finding no fruit on his fig tree and ordered it to be cut down. However, the caretaker of the tree asked for more time and care, suggesting it needed additional nourishment. How fortunate we are to have a loving Heavenly Father, who, with great patience, waits for us to make righteous choices and turn to Him in repentance. We are always offered one more chance.
St Patrick's Cathedral Visit
Last Friday, Verona and I went to St. Patrick's Cathedral in the city with our school leaders and some other Year 6 students, as a celebration of Catholic Education Week and our Melbourne patron saint, St Patrick. We were very fortunate to see the unveiling of a new ICON of St Patrick, who became our Patron Saint because of the many Irish settlers here.
Our students, along with Verona and I had a wonderful day with many other primary and secondary schools in our Diocese. Our students represented our school very well and appreciated the experience to learn more about our Catholic identity.
Project Compassion - LENT
Last week, we sent a Project Compassion box home to every family at the school, to help raise awareness and funds for those in need and to include us in the journey of breaking the poverty cycle. The students may add any coins to their large project compassion box in their classrooms after collecting them at home during Lent. We will also use the money raised from our lapathon on Harmony Day to contribute to Caritas's Project compassion.
Could all money be returned to the office by Friday, March 28.
Please watch the link below to find out more about the history and success of Caritas/Project Compassion.
On Monday, 31 March, we are having our outdoor Stations of the Cross, re-enacted by our Year 5/6 Students. Mrs. Amanda Hill has been practising with them so that they are well prepared to present this for our school community.
Families are welcome to attend and there are staggered starting times so that all students in Year 5/6 will be involved in a performance. We look forward to seeing you there!
