Arts and Design Technologies Showcase

Last Thursday evening we had the pleasure of celebrating all things artistic and creative. Our Annual Arts and Design Technology Showcase was a great success and I extend a big THANK YOU to all our fabulous students and staff who helped to make the event so enjoyable and memorable.

The Brigidine Centre was transformed into an art gallery and performance space, enabling members of our community to come together and enjoy the many musical performances, view the fabulous artwork, watch the movie trailers and admire the creations made from metal and wood.

Our event showcased students’ work, from Foundation to Year 12, and included pieces that had been designed, manufactured and created in Visual Arts, Visual Communication Design, Media, Technology Wood and Metal, Food Technology and Performing Arts.

This year, our Art and Design Technology Showcase was opened by local artist, Marion Langford.  Marion is a local Shepparton artist and winner of the 2021 Shepparton Festival “Call to Create - Unify”.  As an artist, Marion is “continually evolving, trying new mediums, approaches and materials, all with a light footprint on our beautiful planet!”

From an early age, Marion was heavily involved in all handcrafts, sewing, crochet, knitting, drawing and dressmaking. She attended Shepparton High School and after high school, moved to live and study in Melbourne, before moving to Sydney.

While living in Sydney, she took up landscape painting and went on to learn life drawing/painting with oils with Artist Nafisa Naomi (Archibald Packing Room prize winner) and undertook classes at the Royal Art School in North Sydney, then switched to working with acrylics and completing more portraits of people and dogs.

In 2018, Marion returned to live in Shepparton where she became heavily involved in local arts, displaying works at the  Shepparton Arts Museum, undertaking community weavings and more recently, she has taken to ceramics and learning pottery with local artist Kaye Poulton.

Marion enjoys exploring recycling and sustainability in art to make a difference and be part of the community. It was a pleasure to hear about Marion’s career.

Thank you to all our guests who participated in the weaving activity with Marion on the night.

We also had the pleasure of announcing our Principal’s Choice Awards for 2024. Congratulations to the following students on being awarded this Year’s Principal’s Choice Awards.
