Celebrating National Teachers Day
On Friday 25th October, we celebrated National Teachers Day, a time to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to our dedicated teaching staff. Our teachers at St Augustine’s understand the complexities of their roles, yet each day they arrive with positivity, energy and a commitment to making a meaningful difference in their students’ lives. In a large and bustling school environment, they ensure every student receives personalised, relational care, genuinely understanding each child’s strengths and what brings out the best in them. I invite everyone to join me in expressing gratitude for our exceptional St Augustine’s staff.
Planning for the Future with Magnify
As we move through the important learning milestones of Term Four, our Leadership Team is also preparing for the 2025 school year. Our strategic learning and teaching initiative, Magnify, which was recently introduced in a letter from Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd, is progressing well. Our educators are engaged in a diocesan-wide network, participating in evidence-based professional development sessions guided by internationally recognised experts and the science of learning. We’re excited about the opportunities this brings to our community. Teachers have already begun preparatory webinars, and resources and planning spaces are being prepared to support this initiative. St Aug’s has already been leading the way with explicit model teaching, detailed learner data tracking and collaboration with respected experts like Ryan Dunn and Emina McLean. We look forward to enhancing our Teaching and Learning practices aligned with the Magnify vision in 2025.
Looking Ahead to 2025: Staffing and Class Planning
As part of our preparations for the new school year, we have started the complex task of planning and allocating staff to year levels and classes. This process considers various factors to ensure the best learning environment for each child. In 2024, our F-4 and 5-8 students were taught in single-year-level classes. While each student is assigned a specific teacher as their TA, please remember that all teachers within each year level contribute to the education and development of your child. Our learners benefit from the collaborative and highly skilled approach of our staff through team teaching practices. More information about staff and year levels will be made available towards the end of term.
Statewide Orientation Day - Tuesday 10th December
Please keep this date in your diary as it will come around soon. On this day, we will welcome our new Foundation and Year 7 students to our community. All Year levels will have a day of step-up into their new year levels and will have the opportunity to meet their teachers for 2025.
