From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

I am delighted to share some exciting news about an innovative educational approach that St Augustine’s will be implementing, developed by Catholic Education Sandhurst: the Magnify Sandhurst program. This initiative is designed to enhance our students’ learning experiences, making education more accessible, inclusive and impactful for every learner.

The name “Magnify” reflects the program’s purpose: to expand knowledge and bring clarity. Much like a magnifying glass, it helps us focus on both the big picture and the finer details. This dual focus ensures that we support students with their unique learning needs, while also strengthening our overall teaching practices.

Key features of the Magnify Sandhurst model include:

  • Personalised Support for Students: Through a structured Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), we can better identify and meet individual student needs, ensuring every learner receives the attention they need to thrive.
  • Evidence-Based Teaching: The program emphasises explicit instruction, backed by research and best practices, that makes complex ideas clearer and helps students retain essential skills and knowledge.
  • Teacher Empowerment: Professional learning and instructional coaching are built into the program to ensure our teachers have the resources and support they need to grow, adapt and excel.

The term “Magnify” also has roots in our faith, reminding us of Mary’s words, “My soul magnifies the Lord.” This is our guiding light, as we aim to reflect God’s love in all we do, celebrating and nurturing each student’s potential.

Through this structured, compassionate and growth-oriented approach, Magnify Sandhurst aligns perfectly with St Augustine’s mission to foster both academic and spiritual growth.

Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this journey together. We look forward to seeing how this new approach enriches our students’ learning and deepens their connection to our faith.

Yours sincerely

Jay Sutton
