Education State Update

Late last month, the Victorian Government outlined its vision for schools through The Education State – Excellence in Every Classroom. The  recommitment to The Education State agenda aims to build on the past decade's progress, focusing on equity for disadvantaged students, enhancing numeracy to match literacy success, and improving early secondary school engagement and achievement.

 

School staff received direct communication from Minister Carroll and the Department Secretary Jenny Atta reinforcing commitment to the Education State initiative.  At the launch, Minister Carroll affirmed “No child to be left behind” acknowledging and recognising the critical role of the school workforce in attaining targets and goals outlined in the reforms.  As we approach next year’s EBA negotiations, it was particularly encouraging to hear the Minister’s public commitment at the launch to securing competitive wages for teachers and school leaders compared to other jurisdictions.
